And why should the leftists be up in arms about it? They agree with Chavez's message! Dictatorship is just fine if they agree with its policies! Only rightist dictatorships are bad! Socialism is more important than liberty!

It seems to me, that we should see what the program contains. It's obvious that Chavez is going to focus more on Latin American studies, which I don't think is a bad thing to do. If the text books discuss socialism without being biased, then there is probably nothing wrong with it. As for discussions on revolutionaries and terrorists, well the label used typically betrays the views of the people using it. They should know about Che and others, but still, without bias. Education should be educational and not designed propaganda. If they keep that in mind, maybe it won't be bad.

What new dictatorship? Chavez has been in power since the late 1990's and established a more corrupt democracy ever since. The media is censored and frequently the military is brought in to stop riots. This is nothing new, sorry.

Because we're too worried about the 8 year old dictatorship in our OWN country.

Why isn't the right excited that they'll have another excuse soon enough to invade another oil-rich country--based on some idiotic excuse?

(Psst! Iraq was a great idea to invade and get stuck in a quagmire, huh? Man! That was awesome!)
