He's definitely not the best quarterback of all time. Joe Montana, John Elway and Dan Marino will always be the best quarterbacks of all time. For much of his career Favre had an excellent receiving corps, which Elway and Marino didn't have for large parts of their careers. Favre also has 1 superbowl ring, so Montana and Elway have him beat.

Brett Favre is ONE of the greatest to ever play quarterback. I am biased because I am a Packers fan, but I don't forget great talent like Marino, Montana, Elway(I hate him though)and Young, nor do I fail to recognize Manning and this will make me sick to say, but Brady(ick, ick). Favre is passing all the records because he has been around so long and deserves the honors and accolates, although he does not need them. He has a Super Bowl ring and a love for the game that QB's these days will never never understand. He is the last in a dying breed of honorable men who play for the thrill not the paycheck and deals. He is older, he realizes that, but the man can still play football with the best of them and he is respected by EVERY single player in the NFL and every fan.

Ive seen Favre pull off way too many impossible plays that only he was capable of. He's been the comeback kid since he took over for Majikowski. Sure their are more consistant QB's, but who else but Favre could throw a slant route to the left side of the field while falling backwards avoiding a sack? Favre was the master of putting passes where only he could. Aside from that he was the toughest QB to ever play the game. He has started every game even through tough hip, foot, throwing thumb, throwing elbow, knee, and ankle injuries. I also think he has been surrounded by less talent than others and still had several winning seasons.

LOL it amazes me how people think Favre had " all these weapons" yet they say Elway and Marino didn't. Is it just me or did people forget Marino had Mark Duper and Mark Clayton for 11 seasons of his career, 2 hall of fame receivers. Elway, sure he didnt have hall of fame players around him, but come on, he played when the AFC was REALLY bad. How bad? The BROWNS and BENGALS were contending for the Super Bowl, it makes the NFC of today look like a powerhouse.
Now Joe Montana is a veeery close second the Favre as the ebst of all time, but he's what Peyton Manning is today, LOTS of talent and weapons around him, and the perfect system for him. He did win 4 super bowls which is very impressive, but for you fanatics that thinks Super Bowls are everything, Terry Bradshaw and Troy Aikman had 4 and 3 rings a peice, yet never are mentioned as the best of all time. Also, you need to have a great TEAM to win those super bowls, and the way Montana was going with all that talent, it was almost mandatory to win them.
Now im not going throw out a lot of stats about Favre, but just the ones that matter:
the only 3 time NFL MVP
all time winningest QB
by the end of this season will own all major passing records
has been to 2 superbowls winning one of them
In 17 years in the league, only ONE losing season (2005)
Think about it..who was Favre's supporting cast compared to Marino's and Montanas? Freemon and Brooks compared to Mark Duper and Mark Clayton?? No. Dorsey Levens and Edger Bennett to Roger Criag and Ricky Watters? No. Now granted Favre's cast was good, but no where near any of the other players mentioned, he like Tom Brady elevates the play of his supporting cast.
Now one last bit of info, you nay sayers will say " what about the interceptions etc.." what about them? Marino threw 255, Elway threw 230.. if you want to win you have to try and make plays, unfortunately Favre never had a Mark Duper and Co. or a Jerry Rice and Roger Craig etc.. He doesnt want to settle for small gains, he wants to win, and coincidently he does have the most wins because of his desire to win. Brett Favre: Best of All Time.

When Favre retires, he deserves to be the best quarterback of all time for now until manning retires. How can Favre not be the best? He has most wins for a qb. Hes very close or has just about every passing record. He is a 3 time MVP of the NFL. He has a super bowl ring. How can people say he had a better receiving corps than marino? Marino had clayton and duper for many years, Favres group, Freeman and brooks.

First of all:
I love the fact that he's still around to hear that people think he's one of the best!
But in my opinion,
I really think you can't put him above Joe Namaith, Joe Montana, Roger Stauback (I can't spell that correctly if my life depended on it, LOL) OR Johnny Unitaus. So I'd say he ranks #5 of all-time.
My personal order:
#5.) Brett Favre
#4.) Joe Namaith
#3.) Roger Stauback
#2.) Joe Montana
#1.) Johnny Unitaus
Runners-up:
Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Bart Starr & Steve Young
But if you were to say college football's all-time best QB:
no contest: Doug Flutie.
Once again, nice choice!

I think Bret is 1 of the top five QB of all time and he will hold just about every record you can hold but i think that is only going to last until Peyton breaks them you have to give him credit he is going to break the records if he stays healthy and plays for 16 or 17 years and the way he plays and prepares he will. Everybody said Peyton couldn't win the big game but that's in the past . Bret only has one ring and its been 10 years since he won it. The Packers are my dark horse in the NFC and i think they can make it to the Superbowl but as strong as the AFC is its going to be hard to beat a AFC team. My top five as of now is
Montana
Bradshaw
Farve
Marino
Manning
