To be feared is a power that entails responsibility, at the least to maintain and refurbish the fear to retain the power.... to be loved does not impose any responsibility, provided the love is true..... it is power without responsibility. Human nature is such that we need responsibility with power to be able to enjoy it fully. Therefore, to be feared is better in terms of enjoying the power.

However, in terms of how it benefits us, it is better to be loved rather than feared, because the true lover bestows benefits even without asking for it, whereas people benefit those whom they fear only when so demanded or ordered and never spontaneously or willingly.

It is better to fear love, because grief is the price you pay for loving someone!
