First he brings back a former Chicago roomie in Roenick to the Sharks, now he has invited his last defense partner in 1992-93 to camp in Sandis Ozololinsh.

Maybe I should be sitting by the phone in case he needs an aging left winger? I only need 500 more goals to get to 500!

If the Sahrks weren't so good, these moves would look desperate. However, the potential upside on these two is much greater than the nearly nonexistant risk in giving them a shot.

If Ozolinsh can stay straight he can be a big help on the pp. Then again, that's what the Rangers, and the Ducks before them, were thinking.

Roenick can also be a useful depth player if he can avoid being a polarizing force in the dressing room. Then again, that's what the Coyotes, and the Kings before them, were thinking.

Can the allure of a potential ring keep this mercurial character motivated and focused? I'd like to see this guy leave the game on an upnote, but part of me hopes Roenick literally skates off the ice and never looks back after potting his 500th.

That would be rather hysterical and very 'JR' like. That might be a truly fitting final act for the only NHL player I have heard refer to himself in the 3rd person.

By the way, it really doesn't seem fair that you and I have the same number of NHL tucks. lol

Hey, whats the point in having friends if you won't help them out? Maybe he figures Ozolinch can catch on somewhere else if he has the chance to showcase his talent, if he can't crack the Shark's lineup.
I'm in favour of a guy applying his skills beyond mandatory retirement.

LOL - sounds like Doug feels the need to be surrounded by old friends. Is this the NHL equivalant of the VFW?
