my due date is the 27th of this month, but my doc insist that I be induced at next week on the 20th...I was a little off by that, arent docs suppose to wait till at least two weeks after a due date to begin induction...she claims theres no reason for me to wait, because the babies already considered full term at 37 weeks...Ive been healthy my whole pregnancy and there really is no need for her to really rush things...Does this sound NORMAL? what should I do, should I wait till my due date or wait to see if the baby comes on her own....

p.s. I saw doc today and she said im already 2-3 centimeters dialated....does that mean i can go into labour by myself or i should just go ahead and let her do the induction...so cinfused FIRST TIME MOMMY!!!

Personally, I'd wait until the baby comes on their own. Inductions can create other problems- such as low heartrate in babies who do not tolerate labor well and C-Sections thereafter. I'd wait and let the baby go on their own.

Good luck to you!

I would insist on a legitimate reason for induction even if it is "just" a week early!
Inductions can be very painful. It sounds like you could be going into labor at any point since you are already dialated a bit.
If she doesn't give you a reason related to the health of either you or the baby I would personally tell her no I would rather do it naturally. Pitocin is the drug they use to get your labor contractions going and it isn't nice. You get contractions as strong and intense as if you where delivering the baby right then even when your body is no where near delivery.
Especially with you being a first time mother it is very common to go beyond the due date by about a week or so and the baby is just fine.

i conflict by way of something VERY comparable. I published virtually a similar question and have been given no responses so i'm looking forward to interpreting your solutions. My undertaking is fairly distinctive as i'm a VBAC candidate and that i do no longer comprehend how plenty that alterations the region. i'm virtually 37 weeks yet as quickly as I had an ultrasound at 35 weeks the toddler advance into measuring at almost 8 lbs. My doctor is asserting that if i do no longer do the optionally available induction at 39 weeks then i will in all threat could have yet another C-section because of the fact the toddler would be too enormous. i do no longer understand because of the fact do no longer a terrific variety of ladies supply organic beginning to big babies? i'd prefer to bypass for sure besides. i've got heard that pitocin makes contractions come on very complicated very quickly and that i do no longer choose that nor do i choose a 2d c-section. i do no longer think docs can stress you to do something yet their suggestion is well worth listening to as we don't need something to happen to us or our babies. i think of each and every from time to time they like to do a c-section for his or her convenience and because that's extra money yet i do no longer in all threat comprehend. properly besides I choose you success and that i'm sorry i could no longer fairly answer your question. i think of i visit attend until eventually this is going to become a scientific emergency to set off or have a c-section. solid success.

That seems odd that she would want to induce you before your due date, as long as everything seems normal. If the baby is measuring extremely large, or if something else is off than sometimes they will induce you before your due date. there must be a reason why, you should definitely ask your Dr. Theres no reason to rush nature if everything is going the way it should be, and id be surprised to hear of a doc who thinks otherwise.....good luck!

ps
I remember seeing your questions before, and relating to them because from what I remember reading you were due the same day as me...and I'm due the 20th. Has your Due date changed??

I would be a little worried about this doctor. Is she the only doctor in this practice? My friend had a doctor that was alone, and he induced ALL his moms so he could plan their births. But as a mom, that's NOT how you want your labor. I would insist she not induce you and let you go into labor. The only time you have to worry about being induced is when you're at least two weeks late. This is your birth and pregnancy, not hers! Whatever happens, just remember, you'll have a beautiful baby at the end of all this. Congrats!

I was induced at 37 weeks with my 1st child due to pre-eclampsia. I had no problems with the induction and everything went well. But, as I stated, it was medically necessary and they needed me to deliver asap.

If it isn't medically necessary to induce I would tell her you want to wait, they can't force you. It sounds as though things are moving along on their own and there is a good chance you will go into labor naturally. If you do want to get it over with, there is nothing wrong with going forward with the induction.

Good Luck!

Sounds like your doctor is scheduling an induction for her convenience, you have the right to refuse, because you have no medical complications that would make induction necessary. Do not let her pressure you into going ahead with it if you feel uncomfortable, let the baby come when it is ready.

Well if the doctor has some special reason then you should let them induce you. I was dialated 2-4 with all three of mine. They induced me at 5 with my last one. If you are totally against it, just let them know and find out exactly why they want you to be induced instead of waiting.

unless she has a good reason, I would refuse the induction. If your body is not ready to deliver yet the induction may fail, and you may end up with an un-necessary c-section.

Some dr.s like inductions so they don;t get calle into the hospital at 2 am to deliver a baby. I would question her motives, sorry to say.

If your blood pressure is fine... you don't have gestational diabetes... you don't have group B strep...you don't have some other risk factor... there's no reason for you to be induced. Is your doctor going on vacation? Seriously, some doctors will induce prior to leaving for vacation.

If you don't want to be induced, then tell her that. This is your pregnancy. She cannot force you to be induced. That would be malpractice.

Stick to what you feel is right. You will be happy you did.
