Yay metric...I love metric
Aussies use it for everything but some ways Americans might use it:

When a baby is being born - 10cm
Running races - 100m
Medicine - mg or ml (not sure about that one in US)
Beauty products ml

Yup, i love metrics, it's a lot better, but a lot of Americans don't like 'cause they say it's stupid.
In tools would be better if all is metric, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 9mm, etc, etc.
In inches 1/2, 1/4, 3/16, 16/32?, they know is very hard to learn those (unless you use them all your life)
They don't wanna hear it but in the future it will be metric everywhere!!!.

I'm an American, so I don't use metric, which is also why I don't buy 2 litre soda's.
