please give me a short explanation, i wasn't old enough to understand this case back then.

I think we get confused believing in a "justice" system as opposed to a "legal" system.
This isn't just about the OJ Simpson case, this is true in family law cases as well.

Money. The issue for many was whether an a white celebrity would ever have been treated like OJ, an African-American celebrity. That was the wrong interpretation. The real issue was whether an African-American with money could buy justice every bit as good as a white with money. Turns out he could.

The trial took too long. The evidence was too complex. The defense made the cops look incompetent. The prosecutors did not simple everything down to language the average person could understand. The whole trial should have lasted 6 weeks.

I believe he was acquitted because the jury was dissatisfied with the way the police handled the evidence and the case, not necessarily because they thought he was innocent.

It does not matter what 99% of the people believe. What matters is how the 12 jurors voted.

Good lawyers and stupid jury. DNA evidence was just starting to be used and the general public didn't know how accurate it was. His lawyers (among other things) convinced the jury that it was not at all accurate.
