It depends on the item. I buy store brand bread because I think it's pretty good and I'll use it within the week. But I've bought store brand canned goods and found a lot of woody stems and inedible bits. So I don't buy those anymore. Similarly, I no longer buy store brand paper goods because they are poor quality. But I don't often buy the brands that are advertised on TV either because those are too expensive. I try to go for relatively inexpensive items but I do want a certain quality, and I'm looking for healthy foods, so sometimes that means things will actually be more expensive -- less salt always is higher priced for example and usually means it has to be a famous brand as the store doesn't make that. Same way for less sugar or no sugar. But that's important to me.
