continues to heat after we open the door. the motor stops and the drum stops but the heating coils continue to produce heat. the only way to shut off the coils is to turn the selector switch off. normally, i've always been able to open the door and everything would stop. can anybody help?

It seems like your timer is shot, if you not familiar with the wiring I would call a tech. to help. It's not realy thathardto replace but a tech could be worth it.

This could be very dangerous and cause a fire. Call a repair man right away.
