I took my daughter at 3 weeks to sears. You can go any time. As long as you are feeling well enough to work with your baby. I had a c-section, so it took me a while to recover.
They do also take pictures in the hospital. I never did this, I felt they were to pricey.

The hospitals in my state take the pictures the second day after the baby is born before you leave the hospital you should check at the hospital u plan on giving birth at to see if they do that to then you can get profesional pictures done of your baby the next day! I got my daughters done at the hospital, then took her somewhere else when she was 3 months then 6 months and now im getting her 9 months done then i will get her 1 yr then every year after that

Well most doctors don't like you to really take your baby 'out in public' until the baby is 6 weeks old. But as long as you take the baby to somewhere nice and clean..and the baby is in excellent health, you should be able to go have their pictures done at 4 weeks. I did that with both of mine.

most families a now get first pictures done at 2 months, but Iwould at least a few weeks to get and swelling and bumps caused by the birth to go away first. My sons face swelled up some after wards and he rubbed along my tailbone on the way out so he had some bump on his face to.

I agree with lotsoflove1215, wait till your baby is about 8-10 weeks. They're less puffy, more alert, and probably won't sleep through it like most newborns, that makes boring pictures. I just took my daughter when she was 10 weeks, and we even squeezed a smile out! It was so CUTE!

the hospital where i had my son took a picture 24hours later and then you need to sign a consent form and they post it on the hospitals website. which was great cause i could tell all our relatives and friends that where overseas that they could go and view him on the website. it also stated his weight, time of delivery and height. I thought that it was a nice idea. You should check with your hospital, otherwise i am sure that 7 days later is fine to take him out.
Best of luck with baby.

As soon as the baby is born and as soon as you're comfortable letting him/her be exposed to possible colds or germs from other people.
