"There are two kinds of failures: those who thought and never did, and those who did and never thought." Laurence J. Peter

I would have to agree with this quote. I think both have the ability to be just as equally destructive.

Everyone thinking without acting. At least with the other scenario, things get done. The first situation is basically like random mutations. In every organisms, mutations occur randomly in their DNA. Usually they can be harmful, but on rare occasions, they produce something helpful to the organism, possibly allowing it to survive throughout some calamity that killed off the rest of the population and can repopulate the species. Thus, something good happens. However, in the other case, nothing happens, so if that same calamity occurs, everyone's dead, even if they know how to protect themselves.

I think acting without thinking is worse. just look at the u.s. congress. when we have gridlock rep pres, dem congress or visa versa, alot gets said and thought about but little actually gets done that hurts us. when both are the same it seems like we have a hell of a time. corporate tax breaks that lead to record profits, and in the mean time we go further into debt.

Both are equally awful. My aunt frequently speaks, and acts without thinking which requires her to have to apologize often.
Most of us think "Maybe today I'll do something to help__________....,", and then at the end of the day think "Oh well, at least I started with good intentions" As if that in itself is enough. As if with only our thoughts things should somehow magically change.....if only that were true....what a world we'd be living in, huh?

Both are problematic. Acting without thinking can be an interference to action. Some people get so caught in thinking things through that action becomes impossible.

Acting without thinking can result in anything from violence to pregnancy. Thinking without acting is just apathy.

Of course, thinking without acting. To know what is right and to not act upon it is far more grevious than being ignorant.
