1. Joe Thornton
2. Vincent Lecavalier
3. Ilya Kovalchuk
4. Sidney Crosby
5. Alexander Ovechkin
6. Chris Phillips
7. Rick Nash
8. Rick DiPietro
9. Marc-Andre Fleury
10. Patrik Stefan

I expect Crosby and Ovechkin to improve over the course of their careers. Crosby is the first rookie to start his career with 2 100 point seasons since Peter Stastny (109, 139). He doesn't have the maturity yet of the top 3, but his captaincy in Pittsburgh this year can change that. I want to make sure he can handle the captaincy and still score 120 pts before I move him higher.

Nash has been a disappointment despite winning a Richard trophy.DiPietro and Fleury have a lot to prove still, although Fleury could gain a lot of points this year.

Phillips has been a solid NHL defenceman, gets paid accordingly, and has been in the top 10 in Norris voting 4x. But no All-Star games

Stefan? Well let see.................he was a huge stinker before muffing the empty net............that didn't help!

1. Crosby (A)
2. LeCavalier (A)
3. Thornton (A- I think his career started a little slower than it should have.)
4. Chris Phillips (B+ Solid defenseman, not sure he was worth a first overall pick though)
5. Kovalchuk (B+)
6. Ovechkin (B+)
7. Nash (B)
8. DiPietro (B- Not much around him though)
9. Fleury (C Flashes, but still inconsistent)
10. Stefan (C Not putting up first overall draft pick numbers)

Did 1999 have the worst draft year ever or is it my imagination.
