What other MP3 players are cheap and of decent quality other than iPods?

I'd like to at least consider other MP3 players outside of iPods, but I'm not familiar with them. I'd like at least 1 GB of memory space, compatibility with iTunes, and relatively small so I can use it while in the gym. Any advice?

the Zen mp3 players are really nice.
not sure what media player it uses though...

try the Zen website to see if you like any of their players
