Knew they were quiet but thought it was just because they'd decided to support someone with a real chance of winning. & how embarrassing to not be able to have decent showing or carry your home state.

Rasmussen has him splitting the 4% of the vote with 3 other candidates. Hum, 1% of the vote and his supporters still claim he will win in Nov. 2008.

I don't think his supporters have a nodding acquiantance with reality. When they first started coming in here they'd get 9 or 10 upbeat answers from their pals and hardly anyone challenged them. Now when they ask a question it's more evenly split between Paul supporters and those who are sick to death of the whole speel. They really hate that. Too many folks bringing down their whole Ron Paul high with realistic answers about his policies and his next to zero chance of getting the nomination much less winning.

That's actually a pretty large chunk of votes considering the wide field of candidates. It's also a large jump from his single digit poll numbers that were not so long ago. You figure that the front-runner in the polls, Giuliani, has maybe 28%. That means that 72% want someone else or aren't sure yet. If someone has 16% in the polls and is able to draw in alot of those undecided votes, getting the nomination is not unrealistic.
Bill Clinton polled in the single digits the year before he was elected to his first term.

He may have a few good idea, but many of his idea's would never work in the USA.
He would be a divider.
After all, he holds a lot of libertarian values and a huge percentage of the voting public who understand those values really want nothing to do with it, myself included. (no I do not want to argue the points, I consider libertarians and neocons two of the most narrow political "one size fits all" minds.)
