Would more than 20,000 pencil laws work? More than 20,000 gun laws haven't stopped crime?

Just the assault pens and pencils along with the concealable ones should be outlawed. They cause far more errors than the standard variety. There should be point guards placed on them to prevent unwanted errors too. Besides, once the pens and pencils are outlawed, the people will merely find something else to make mistakes with, like chalk, charcoal, spray paint, etc.

Apparently, doctors cause about 9000 times more "accidental" deaths than legal gun owners do: http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a388859b47ba0.htm

So, gun laws seem less important than doctor laws. In fact, here's absolute proof that outlawing guns actually increases crime: http://www.law.uchicago.edu/Lawecon/WkngPprs_26-50/41.lott.final.pdf

I feel your sarcasm. Crime isn't going to stop until every single law abiding person owns a gun and learns how to properly and safely use it.

Sure, you can get rid of pens and pencils and markers and paint brushes.

What stops me from using a typewriter, eh? What about an underground writing cell? People drooling over a Ticonderoga No. 2?

Seriously, people use whatever is handy. I have never been a big fan of the "Guns don't kill people" slogan, as it misses the point.

Would banning guns help? No, for you drive it underground, where it cannot be seen. You need to work less on the weapon and more on the person.

It's not the steering wheel that causes accidents but the nut behind it.
