Answer 1 offers you valid suggestions. Obviously the corner of a house is a SUPPORTING part of the structure. CODES however are not strictly standard nationally. You might have to pull a permit in any case, at which time the local agency governing code enforcement can advise you more specifically.

in most locations this type of work requires a structural permit from the building department. and an electrical permit as you will need to install a light on the outer wall
