Why do people hate rap???

Question

this is the third time i asked this question and i know its been asked a million times already...
Why do people hate rap/ hip hop so much i just don't get it... especially when you don't listen to it
i am very open minded and even though rap is my favorite genre i listen to alot of other stuff such as jazz/blues, 80's rock, soft rock, a little bit of hardcore, and a little classical.... music is music
Yes i know there are crappy and ignorant rappers with crappy songs such as Ay bay bay, and watch my feet
but isnt music all about opinion???
Rap is accused of being ignorant but don't you think its a little ignorant to say all rap is crappy and its ruining society
what about rappers like Nas, Common, Talib Kwali and others who try to enlighten us?
I want to hear everyone's opinion and please have intelligent response im so tired of hearing "rap is garbage"

i understand that mainstream rap is terrible and that they send the wrong message but i guarantee if you listen to a song written by Common you wouldnt be hearing cursing and it its actually something to listen to...

im not trying to convince people to listen to rap but it does take the worstt punishment because i know for sure not all rock is good

You are right when you said that music is all about opinion. I don't care for rap, it's just not my style. I have listened to certain songs and I usually listen for a bit before I turn the station to decide if it is a bad song or not.
Personally, I don't like the message of mainstream rap. Calling women names and sending the message that violence is normal and not something to be looked down upon. I don't like the whole "don't snitch" theme that I have heard in a lot of rap...it is my opinion that if someone has broken the law then they are not doing a good thing for the community.
I won't turn off all rap, but it's rare that it would be found on my radio. It's usually too inappropriate to let my children listen to. I do have a tendency to leave on the old school rap that I grew up with though...it's not so hard core.

I love rap and i think its because people are bothered by the profanity. Theres some rap out that is very profane and talks about nothing but sex and drugs. But there are rap songs that are very deep. They often talk about the artists life and how it may have been hard but they made it out of bad situations. I love th sound of rap. It very easy to bob your head to the beat. But its the lyrics that make me appreciate it. If you just turn off your anti profane part of of your braine and just listen to what the artist is saying and what messages the artist is trying to convey you can see rap can be very meaningful and personal.

I love rap, but I guess I hate some of it. But, I hate something from all genres of music. What kind of rap do you hate? There's so many different types. And, judging by how you're talking about it, you ain't heard many different types. But, I guess sometimes we think we know all about something we know little about.

Ok, im chirstrian and i dont like rap, but my freinds are christian to and most of them like rap... but a reason alot of people dont like rap is not from what you think about it is. it is from the origins of rap. as it was about sex,rape, and other bad things also such as getting drunk,diregarding people. and so far. (listen to the lyrics and you will see the stuff im talking about. and i know youll say so i think its fixed and isnt it good to fix things? (yes but only certain things. thats like your dog dieing and then your mom says "you can still keep it"

I hate country haha
Some rap is pretty good. Some people are more into smooth stuff instead off the bumping, yelling and cussing. Me i like some hard core rock and metal that i can pump iron to the most, and most people who hate that stuff who are usually older also hate rap. There also a lot of closed minded people out there and refuse to give things a shot. I aree a lot of rap is crap but every other type of music has its crap to.

I do not care for rap music because for one thing, it's yelling and violence screaming and a lot of disconbobulated noise. I have tried to listen to it but it makes a person tense, and not for thing but I'll be dammed if I can understand the words. It's just not soothing nor is it pleasant. It denotes violence and name calling and, I'm willing to bet if you're driving in the car and rap is on you are more likely to drive over the speed limit. I think it sends a bad message to the masses, it's never anything pleasant.

People hate rap because it glorifies violence, misogyny and materialism. When normal people look at someone who listens to rap they rightly make the determination that that person has a host of character flaws that are better avoided altogether.
