Barring of course any catastrophic event that wipes us all out.

Let your imagination roam wild, but try to keep it in check as to what may actually be possible

Considering the exponential growth of technology, we will likely be incredibly advanced in 2000 years.

I would not be at all surprised if we had:
1. Achieved near-lightspeed travel
2. Terraformed and colonized dozens of other worlds
3. Engineered many specialized variations of the human body
4. Encountered extraterrestrial life
5. Solved many of the outstanding problems in physics, and discovered many new ones
6. Built a ring or sphere around the Sun to harvest energy.

Arthur C. Clarke’s observed that “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
Our knowledge is growing at a logarithmic rate. What humanity has learned in the last 10 years exceeds all that we had learned previously. Even if that curve flattens out some...wow.

The _difference_ between our technolgoy today and that that will exist in 2000 years will be greater than the difference between the "technology" that existed 2000 years ago and what we have today.

So what I'm saying is, I haven't got a clue....nobody does. (Not exactly the answer you're looking for but...2000 years is SO far away. Still a good question, though!)

In somewhat less than 200 years, humans will have largely melded into their machines.

Think of how many people can be addicted to current internet/World of Warcraft type technology!

What do you think will happen when real virtual reality is available? heroin will seem like a morning coffee, VR will be that addictive.

Combined with biotech that can cure any disease, and nano tech that can create any artifical form desired, future "people" will not feel any more restricted to traditional human forms than you feel restricted to your grandparents' clothing styles.

In 2000 years, the only humans around will be lovingly studied by their AI keepers. The rest of us will exist virtually.
