There are no small parts, only small actors.

Mayor Shinn is a large part. With your demonstrated egotism, you would be perfect for the role.

Mayor Shinn is not that large a role. It can be very memorable however. He is in all of the chorus scenes, but has no solo singing, so far as I remember. Besides Harold Hill (the music man), the larger roles, for men would be Marcellus Washburn, the members of the school board (the barbershop quartet) Charlie Cowel and the mayor in, roughly that order of importance.

It's probably second to the music man. It would be better if you just tried out for whatever part the director saw fit for you. That makes the show more important than your ego.

I tried to look up cast info. for you, but it was really difficult to find. Sorry I couldn't tell you more about the parts, but I like the role of Amaryllis better .

I believe it's a supporting role. But, accept any role given to you, no matter how small the part. You'll gain experiences and friends
You'll regret it if you don't!

It's a fairly big part and a prominent one.
