the purpose of life is to learn and to prove to God you are worthy of going to heaven. at the end of a lifetime, depending on the deeds of the person that lived, a persons soul will either reap the rewards of living in heaven with God or suffer in hell

I believe in the god+jesus+heaven afterlife thingy
but
assuming god / afterlife does not exist...

just follow this

You know how computer games operate on a 2 dimensional screen, but we still see the games in 3 dimensions because they were made that way. Now, what if 4d beings made us, each with our own unique artificial intelligence program, and we exist in 3d (which we do...) and they "play with us" they would be what one might call the creator because they created us for their entertainment. Scientists say they have no idea what 90% of our DNA does. Perhaps this is our source code or programming. I think that if there is no god, we might exist for the entertainment of 4d beings, who created our whole, elaborate universe to play with. Either our program ends at death, or it would more likely be recycled, updated, and modified.

this is just something i thought up while playing a video game and researched a little since.

Seven years ago (on Sept 12th) I had a head-on collision with another vehicle. I was driving a Nissan Sentra, I collided with a Commercial Ford Van. As I saw the Ford emblem coming toward my face, I knew I'd be dead soon and I said to my God, "I believe". I was teaching in a Christian day school for kids and going to Seminary at night.
When I awoke two months later, the second thought that came to mind (after checking to see if I still had all my original parts), was how sure I was of my relationship with God; how calm I felt at the thought of this present life being over.
I'm not better than anyone.
Just forgiven.
And I know that there is a God and Jesus Christ is real, and alive, and He lived and died and rose again for me; for Love!
I have peace here, and peace now; secure of my destiny.

Living for death is not living. If that is living then what will you do in the afterlife? The thing to do is appreciate the life that you have now and don't waste it.

Nothing. It's only a belief. Tomorrow, I'm likely to find new information or new evidence. I consider beliefs to be time specific. What I believe to be true, is only true of today. Tomorrow, who knows?

At any rate, I'll be dead then. I won't care much at that point what happens to me. Death is for the dead. Life is for the living.

Expansion of the awareness of spirit, just for a nanosec; then being in some way 'with' that whole 'diaphanous' effect... sorry that's not more clear, but neither is my idea of afterlife.

Look into Islam and Christianity even if you do not plan to convert or if you are one of them look into the other. they make sense and explain a lot. I personally Know (on my Faith in God) that we will all be judged in front of God and be given our book of deeds(good/bad). We will be judged on if we belived in God and if we obeyed His good laws of living the right way and if we were innocent etc. Then all the good people will go to Heaven and all the bad people will go to Hell. Please even if you are not interested in religion, check Islam and Christianity out, don't go to your friends, take the Holy Books of those religions out in English and actually read them both. it may take a while but I promise you it is very interesting to me and i hope you will find truth in them too.

im an atheist.
i have a very hard time understanding how people can be so religious since most of them cant even answer if i asked him how do you know if god exists? i hate one of those 'you first have to have faith to believe' because.... thats jsut dumb :]
but to answer ur question, after u die. i think ur just... dead. no feelings, no hell or heaven, no nothing. just doesnt exist.. (besides the dead body itself of ocurse)
