I believe political correctness was started with good and honorable intentions - unfortunately, it has grown tentacles and invaded every aspect of our lives.
Because of the spot light put on this anal entity, people are offended by the most trivial things. Suspicious Muslims acting out on aircraft are suing the airlines and the people who reported their activities, no more Merry Christmas - replaced by Happy Holidays - certain groups are "offended" by any display of any other religion except their own, minorities, both legal and illegal, are milking it to the hilt - people of all races and ethnic backgrounds are demanding special perks because of their religion or native norms and all businesses, in general, are rethinking everything - from how they advertise, what additional languages to include in their directions and brochures to the color of their packaging - all in fear of offending someone and awakening a horde of litigation lawyers. And if you happen to be a police officer, don't make the rude and intrusive mistake of inquiring if someone is in this country legally - that's just plain racist and, even worse, it could be construed as profiling!
My answer probably flies in the face of political correctness - but it's the truth as I see it.

The worst of it has been the left trying to equate the gay rights "Struggle" with the civil rights struggles of blacks. Im not talking about black history month. Sure we like to pick out a couple of poster children like King etal. but they are just positive figures of what was a horrific experience for millions of Americans. How many died in the struggle? How many suffered? We will never know. But we do know the gay population in America has never been torched, hosed, lynched, mobbed or forced into labor just bc they are gay. If your trying to pose as an oppressed minority you should find a better edge than identifying with victims of racial intolerance. The two are not the same. But its not OK to say that anymore because Homosexuals are off limits to criticism.

1. We have millions who live their lives offended on words from another. This is victimhood to the extreme.

2. Those same people sue companies because their feelings are hurt. This costs many businesses everything. Frivolous lawsuits are destroying this economy.

3. Refusing to close the borders allows terrorists and people with diseases to come here without being stopped. It creates a permanent underclass of uneducated people who cannot speak our language.

The worst thing about political correctness in general is that it makes people mentally stutter. What happened to the days when you could say what was exactly on your mind and people weren't so anal about things?

Political correctness causes people to accept wrong behavior rather than try and stop wrong behavior or whatever is fashionable at the time.

The huge number of American citizens in psychotherapy, because they have such a fragile self-image, emotionally and mentally.
The usage of the suffixes "-phobia" or "-phobe" to stifle debate and pronounce people mentally ill for holding a different opinion. (IE: Homophobe, Islamophobe)
The state of this country's colleges/universities in general.
The Duke "rape" case in particular.

I'm sure I can think of some more, just not right now.

Right and Wrong? Now it's just about illegal to draw any lines for what is actually ok and what is not.

In short, it's made our world gray, a great place for evil to play.
