If anyone thinks George Bush and Cheney etc.... How interesting! you obviously are or were at one time oxygen deprived. Some people talk a lot and say nothing. Answers like that are similar to using a very long stick to poke a bear in the eye and then running away.
I think they did it because of a lack of information or at least a lack of objective information. Meaning I think they did it because they truly believed and still believe that the western world including the US, are evil and are trying to dismantle or otherwise deprive them of their way of life. I have traveled a bit and I love to talk to others to get a non American point of view. I listen carefully and patiently even if the answer is contrary to my beliefs. I have personally seen in some cases that the feedback I get is lacking an even amount of information from both sides of a topic. For example it is a know fact that the fear of torture and death are used with media blackouts to teach or influence a population that the OTHER people are evil and we are superior. This was done in Iraq and now in North Korea. North Korean dictatorship imports American and other luxury items for the Dear Leader while his people are undernourished and lack basic medical care. But I know Koreans are happy and proud of their country because they see nothing of the outside world except what the dear leader shows them. I feel that your answer shows a lack of insight or a lack of information and surely indicates at least to me that you have no tolerance for things that you know very little about. I still believe that "FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN" causes a lot of problems. I think that crimes against humanity would drop drastically if you take the time to learn and understand what you don't know.

It's obvious. The World Trade Center was within blocks of wallstreet and they wanted to do as much damage to the economy as they could. The World Trade Center was like America's cash register, and if they can take thousands of people out as well, then that was more then what they wanted to accomplish. They tried to attack the WTC in 1993 and failed but they are psychotic and persistant f*ckers. We just have to move on, honor the dead with a beautiful memorial, and to live our lives. I know it's easier said than done (especially for the victims families) but we are all one, and we're all here for one another and they'll NEVER take that away.

They did it to send a signal that the whole world is going to be conquered for their version of Islam.
There were no demands, no grievance stated; but bin Laden said that this action shows the strength of Islam, and it will motivate many people to convert.

Oh, you mean George Bush, Dick Cheney, Jeb Bush, Marvin Bush and the guy who actually went in and planted the charges to bring the buildings down who is now head of Homeland Security. You mean those people or are you talking about Osama bin Laden who was in a U.S. Military hospital in Pakistan before, during and after 9/11? So they could take America's mind off of stealing money left and right from the general populace. And to get American general public behind wanting to steal the oil from Iraq while getting rid of Saddam. We got rid of Saddam, why are we still there?
