The green dot is a label put there by the maker of the helmets to show that it is envrionmentally friendly. The helmets with the green dots are made from recycled paper products and out of date over the counter "natural male enhancement" medications. Some of the chin straps are made from out of date Propicia which explains why the players wearing them have thicker beards at the end of the game than at the beginning.

In the early 1890's, quarter dollars were made of copper alloy and would often turn green due to the guacamole binge in that time. The NFL is paying homage to this era of some of the finest football played in history (w/ players like William "Pudge" Heffelfinger and Knowlton "Snake" Ames), putting a green quarter-sized dot on the back of the qb's helmet

I think i have used all of mine up. My favorite was the new NFL rule allowing the person who wears the sticker one do-over per half. When they use the do-over the sticker is taken away.

it's there to keep your tailback in line. every now and then, the tailback is called for offsides. it was a great and bold strategy implemented by all coaches to put a green sticker on the back of all qb's helmets to help them focus. if they are focused on the green sticker, they are not distracted by the crowd noice or the snap count. the tailback simply looks at it and says, "it's beautiful (sob)."
