A monolouge is a dramitc speech or set of lines, generally said to the audience or the actors self. and usually alone.

An example of a monologue would be close to this.
Now I dont rember it exactly as Its been a while since I prefromed them but from the musical Clue
Miss Scarlet:
"I'm Miss Scarlet! I'm an actress... No, a Singer... NO, more like .... A preformer!
I do it all. At least thats what my men friends tell me. I meet Mr. Boddy while opening for a... (ect i dont realy rember the rest)"

Monologues are pretty simple usually and rather fun. It gives you a chance to channel a certain charachter and a certain emotion generally. Check out differnent straight plays and musicals for intresting monolouges. If your a begginer I'd suggest a Monologue From the musical Clue. For the male parts you have a choice of a geeky professior, a army buff, and a money making smooth talker. It gives you a good choice and They are pretty easy to learn.
