I remember in the beginning them being quite adament that they would not be hiring them but wouldn't it be about time now? If they took the cash they had and hired several of the best around the world then this could prove they are innocent right and at the same time find their daughter that they believe strongly is still alive?

You would think so wouldn't you? I know, if it were one of my kids, I'd have PI's hired all across the country. Sounds alittle fishy to me!

My thoughts exactly, Ladybugs.
I do believe that PIs were hired right from the start.
Details, of course, were not divulged to the media as the Investigation as the name suggests is...well...Private.
The entire purpose would've been defeated if the it was made known that PIs were on the job.

They don't want a PI because all clues would lead to them.

I would have thought that to be the first thing they would have done. They've probably waited much to late now.
