when you're looking into someones crusty eyes and having their breath singe your eyebrows at 6am. and you're mad because he left the toilet seat up again, and you look at him and think "I love him, and I can't live without him"...that's when it's real.

I apologize for sounding high-and-mighty, but you guys are sad.

The sad thing is this unquestionable assumption that a relationship starts with lust. The two most meaningful relationships of my life have both started without lust, but with simple friendship. The sexual attraction in both cases didn't develop until after we loved each other. I would say "after we fell in love" but it's hard to draw that defining line.

I have felt lust. I know what lust feels like. I know what it feels like to look at a woman and want only one thing from her. The times I have looked at a woman that way, I never went farther than that. Both of the relationships I describe have come about unexpectedly. I think that if you're starting with lust, you probably really confuse the attraction. You probably never can know whether you're just lusting again, or if you really honestly want the other person because of the love.

If the love comes first, there's never a question.

Lust usually lasts for only a short time. Love lasts longer, but just like our natural body's it has to be fed.

You look into their eyes. If you can feel the stare, its a good sign. If your more concerned with them than you. Its a good sign. If you feel so comfortable with them you can burp. etc...
