Well,I had to deal with the fact that all my relatives thought I was so cute and then I get into this environment where being cute is a norm and frankly,it messed up my sense of identity which until then had been pretty centered on the idea that I was cute. However I enjoyed the company and the teachers were nice to everyone, plenty of interesting activities, great playground, etc. But I did lose my precious little sense of uniqueness,at least for a while. Eventually I found other reasons to feel unique. But until then I had a real existentialist dilemna on my hands. And I was only 4. I still think of it as my Albert Camus phase.

Kindergarten was more then 40 years ago for me. I don't remember much. I do remember naps though, and getting to have the Christmas Tree to take home, because my father was over seas (in the Army). Guess the teacher felt sorry for me.

Oddly, spilling my milk during snack time. The school provided a kindergarten break each day during which the teacher handed out a carton of milk and a snack. My teacher actually made me sit in the corner for the spilled milk.

I remember everyone crying cause their parents were leaving them and me kicking my parents out of the classroom and two mean boys saying bad stuff to me I went crying home that day because of that. I used to like a boy in kindergarten and today he is my neighbor and looks like 10 years older than me.

Several things:
~ My teacher was very mean. I think it was because her hair was curled to tight. Seriously, she had extremely short curly hair that made her face look too big.
~ The songs, "Little Red Caboose", "Every Little Llama" and "Kookabara".
~ We had a huge sandbox to play in. It was filppin sweet.
~ This boy, Scott, pulled down this girl's tube top and she cried.
~ Another boy, who sat next to me, always stole my fat black crayon!
~ A high school cheerleader, who was an aide in the class, taught me how to tie my shoe. I felt so important the rest of day, bragging to all the kids.
Ahhh, memories.....

I remember that I didn't attend kindergarten. They did not have it when I was growing up. We went straight to first grade.

Haha. Good question. I remember being moved to every single different table (4 chairs/4 students to a table) that the teacher could move me to because I talked way too much to anyone who would listen. At one point, she even moved me to the hall. The principal didn't take too well to that seat though so they moved me back into the classroom.

That I was living with an Aunt and then I went to live with my father, that I had whooping cough and had to stay home a long time. And that my Teacher came down with polio and some one else took her place. Other then that I close my eyes and smell crayons.

That I didn't go inside when the bell rang. Instead I picked up rocks and trash and took them to the office for about a half an hour, over and over. I said, "I don't want people to litter!" Stupid, huh?
I got in trouble. A LOT.
