Sure it's a choice. Whom you have sex with isn't something that's genetic. You do have the ability to say no and walk away.

It's no choice and there is NOTHING wrong with the brain or the hormones. Whoever told you that has something wrong with his/her brain. Most of us are born being attracted to the same sex or the opposite sex. Some people decide to give the gay life or the straight life a try for different reasons, but most of us are born with gay or straight attractions. It's about who you love and what you cannot live without - not just whom you find sexually appealing! Lots of men and women live hetero lives with kids but they secretly are miserable because they really love the same sex instead of the opposite. Does that make them straight just because they are going through the motions? I don't think so! If they'd give it all up to follow their HEARTS and be with a same-sex partner, then he or she is GAY. Living a lie does not make you who you truly are, even if you think you are doing it to avoid 'sin.' A choice is a conscious selection like Coke or Pepsi. Being gay or straight is predetermined like any other part of you that nature has given you. Some people just cannot accept that nature does not make everyone heterosexual, and it's all good.

I don't know what else to say anymore.
It cant be right to lie to oneself and others. Hiding and being dishonest never does anyone good. There are so many excuses made for gay ppl " go to bible camp", "its a choice just choose to only be with opposite sex", "go to counseling". But they all don't work if your truly gay.
Why would this be a chemical imbalance? Because the majority of the world is straight and can procreate? Because our societies are built on the almost ancient system of supporting families from straight ppl? Is race a chemical imbalance, since most of the earth is inhabited by brown skin ppl of various shades, is white a lack of chemicals then?
I suppose I could try hiding it my entire life, letting ppl believe I only have eyes for men, but based on the thousands of stories I hear of ppl saying not coming out, it is not worth it to hide and pretend. i suppose if I try really hard, ignore all logic and believe in an archeic religious system , then I could get married have kids and somehow convince myself this is it. Im finally straight now, or just ignore every feeling I have against sexing men.

I believe it is not a choice, but I disagree that it is something "wrong" with the brain. That implies that it needs to be fixed because it is bad. I think of it more in the terms of, it is a healthy sexual orientation that is predetermined before birth. Why do we need to know any more than that?

While having great respect and even love for some males, there was never a "choice" to live with or marry one. I have never felt the slightest sexual attraction to men. Certainly i could "choose" to live celibate and miserable or I could live as I am.
If anyone does not like this, then it is their problem.

Who you are attracted to is not a choice. How you act is. I might be attracted to other men, but that doesn't mean I'm going to jump in the sack with everyone that comes along.

Sexuality, both of the straight and gay variety, is determined by the enzyme compound formation in the second strand of chromosomal make-up that appears during the second trimester in the womb.
There is nothing *wrong* or *defective* with being gay, just as there is nothing wrong with being born with red hair.

Homosexual behavior is a choice, just as heterosexual behavior is a choice (barring, of course, sexual abuse). However, orientations are not chosen.

Both. I think you can be born a homosexual and you can also make the choice to be.
