I've never heard of or seen mashing potatoes with skins on. If you like potatoes with skins, boiled is good, but mashed sounds like sacrilege. Lumpy mashed potatoes are a questionable enough variation. Do you use an egg beater to pulverize the skins for tan mashed potatoes, or leave big pieces of skin?

BigM, you're able to desire to be bored. I generally peel the potato's until now I boil them; although, like something there is "gray" section and exceptions. As I consistent with annum prepare my classic Irish St. Patrick's Day dinner i will purchase the Rose potato's and peel purely the middle section - the ends are nicely washed and dermis maintains to be on them. there is an answer you probably weren't looking forward to; i will purely infer upon your question which you theory a) all peeled, or b) all dermis last, so, c) I prepare you that even a query like this might have a intense attitude the place purely 0.5 the potato is peeled and the different 0.5 isn't. This purely occurs as quickly as a year - the dinner consists of many different good Irish issues, all of this to honor my ancestors who got here via Ellis Island on the turn of the final century (previous millenium - LOL). Have a good day!

I've made them with the skin on when I made them with Red Potatoes. The skin on them is pretty thin and it wasn't a problem.
If I'm using Russett ( the big white ones) I always peel them first. I mash them by hand adding, cream, butter and salt.

I do both. But some say the skins are more fiber yet some more caloric content. I like the texture better on. Garlic smashed w/skins! Yahooo! Depends on what & who you are cooking for.

You can if you want to, but some people don't like the texture. Everything tastes the same. If you are making it for kids don't leave the skins on, kids are very picky eaters.
