Agreed. And the only thing that can cause a sense of what is and isnt is just cultural and social acceptance. However, some people are mentally ill, causing them to do awful things wthout sense of either reason or consequence. Just a exception to think about!!

Yes, there is such a thing as good & evil. Hitler was evil, Stalin was evil. How else can one explain their actions against innocent people. Having an ulterior motive does not eliminate the fact they they were evil. Throughout history there have been evil persons, they harmed others for no reason other than to obtain that which they did not have a right to posess or because those whom they harmed believed in something that they considered wrong. The inqusition was evil, It killed thousands for heresy where there was none except in their eyes. The good are those who stand up for the little people, the dispossessed or the down trodden. Good is when one gives to another expecting nothing, not even a "thanks", for having done so. Good is also when you see a need & help without waiting to be asked to help.

Yes there is good and evil. There is no doubt that evil exists.
If we all have ulterior motives for our actions, why then do I give money to people in need that I will never see again. Why do I repair things while asking for nothing in return?
Why then did Christ die on the cross?
Just some thoughts.

Good philosopy question, but to exist in a purely amoral state would run counter to the purpose of living in society. We exist in this state in the unspoken agreement to accepting the rule of law; we have swapped out some of our freedom for security. By living in the aggregate, we have evolved culture.
Now, as is common for a philosophical question, we need to move backwards into defining what good and evil mean (the necessary and sufficient conditions that characterize the concepts), and well as cultural perceptions of what exemplify good and evil. Obviously, it is too large and complex an item to understand on this forum, but there are definintely many websites and universities where you'll find quite a few individuals willing to go through the intellectual exercises with you.

On this earth there is truly good and surely Evil.I often think there is a constant Flow of both that The Good is a bit more Prevalent than the Evil. The Day that there is more Evil in the heart of Man and the scale gets tipped Then we are all"Toast"and Lately Ive been thinkin we aint too far from that day.

You're wrong. God is in control. We have a choice to do good or to do evil. You yourself just said you have ulterior motives as though it is "evil" or wrong. So in that one statement you are admitting there is evil. Don't worry, there are a lot of people just as confused as you are.
The TRUTH is there is a Heaven to gain, and a hell to shun, and the only WAY to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. :D

As long as man is the final authority, you are most likely correct. A good spin doctor, like the Clintons, can always come up with it depends what your definition of "IS" is.
But the Clintons were trained in the law which teach a person how to manipulate it, not what is ethical. Maybe the reason our laws are so screwed up today is because most of our "Leaders" were trained as Lawyers.

Disagree.
There are good people who do selfless acts of kindness and there are cruel, nasty people who do horrific things to others for the sheer pleasure of inflicting pain.
I call that good and evil.

imagine a scenario in which either man , has any abscence of goodness, love , mercy within him and that would be the world of evil. there is still a bit of goodness left in the world. not much though. it will get worse ... open your bible... your handbook for daily operations and guidebook for living. you are told of a world that children will be witout natural affections .... children will rebel .... familes/ rumors of war / actual war / earthquakes other natural disasters . we are in that world imo.

There is, but it depends on your perspective. Often good can be one view, and the same force can be evil to another.
