I have an associates degree in Computer Science. I have gone to monster.com to look for jobs and ever one of them want u to have at least 2 years of experience. Does anybody know what companies have computer science internships so that i can gain experience?

Internships usually take place in large companies, and not as widely advertised. See if you have a friend or relative working for a major bank, utility, or any other large (think Fortune 500) company. Have them check if there are any intern positions available internally. Unfortunately, it's often who you know (but it always helps to come across as someone who knows their stuff on interview).

Good luck.

Yes, most companies put that "2 year experience" clause in it to avoid getting a brand new person. Programming/software development is often a coveted position within companies that most of them promote support staff into the position.

One way to get into programming is actually start in the company in different position. It even works if you work for someone else in different capacity (but still in IT) to accumulate enough experience.

Trust me, you can go very far with your associate degree. (and I am not being sarcastic) You just have to work little harder and longer to get where you want to go, including have first few years doing something you'd rather not be doing.

Good luck.

Hi!
I work in IT and I started with experience only.
Then I studied and moved ahead. Degrees mean little in the real world. My friend also has degrees up to his elbow and can't get a position due to lack of experience. Don't worry about internships, just start at the grass roots and it will open the doors for you.
