If great minds thought in the same manner, there would be nothing to distinguish amongst them. Thus, they become average at best. Truly great minds are independent, never settling for conformity.

In my opinion great minds think the same way (same "method" - for lack of a better word) but that doesn't mean that their ideas can't vary. Great minds ideas are supposed to clash because of how different we all are. However, the great minds that come up with clashing ideas use take the same path to get there.
