Even when we were young and my husband and I were first starting out, I NEVER thought it was okay to steal from people who had money and give it to those who didn't.
I DIDN'T have money at the time, but we were determined to earn our own way in the world.

Hey, libs! I wanna quit my job and stay home...who's going to send me an equal share of their wealth?

Anyone?

Hello?

Didn't think so.

Hey, wheedler - you better check yourself, sister - wtf is more important than raising children?!? Pull your head out.

I think a lot of you whiners are just jealous that RLP has been able to have the luxury of being a stay-at-home mom.

Which European country did a study to try and put a dollar figure on a SAHM? I don't recall, but I believe they came up with a number in the six figures.

Edit again: Minimum wage increases hurt the small businessman a hell of a lot more than they do the rich. Holy crap some of you people scare me.

Liberals justify stealing from the rich and giving it to the "less fortunate" because they sincerely feel that the "less fortunate" are incompetent and can't possibly achieve financial security on their own. It's a pessimistic mentality. They truly think that some people are just more stupid than others. It's a very condescending view and it's beyond me why people support leaders that think in this fashion. I personally would never support a leader who thinks that I'm incapable of succeeding on my own without help from others when there are obviously people who can succeed in life without handouts.

A lot of entitlement liberal/socialists that believe in wealth redistribution on here!

To Arglebarglebuttdart crying about the war. That is the primary function of government, to protect it's citizens from foreign threats and enemies! Not to justify theft by government through liberal secular humanist morals! Nowhere in the constitution does it give the government the right to take taxes from productive members of society and give that money to the less fortunate.

As a liberal, I have never stolen anything, from the rich or the poor. I object to your lies that claim I did.

As a conservative, how can you justify stealing from poor and taking money that you did not earn? Who does the real work at your company, the workers or you?

Even when I was young, I never thought it was okay to steal from anyone.

Sadly, the libs think if you make over 50,000 you are rich...Believe me this is where that income is where the alternative tax starts...

...and what about this new world where you can still buy your "required" insurance and pay a billion dollar tab for what?
...nobody gets anything that is worth anything when it is free...that is why it is free! So go ahead and follow up with the fall of Rome...over taxation means all the money goes off shore...so the middle and low class are going to be the only ones to fund this new Utopia...
...when are the liberals getting off the hallucinating drugs?
...we all have to work to taken care of our self..period, and all we ask is that they don't make this a communist state..now is that so hard?

Well, Frank... All the examples you make are perfectly valid. But life is not a basketball game. Life is not a date. Life is not school. Life is too much complex to be put on the same level as these things. Of course life has risks, winners and losers... but you have to admit that if things were to be the way you paint it, we would be worse than we are today. One thing is to believe Life is unfair (I agree: Life will never be fully fair). Another thing is to think that life should stay unfair. We Humans are always trying to make things better (for some reason). That's what drives mankind. Money may be the reason why I make something better. But why should you oppose that the "better" should benefit others? Nature in itself is not fair or unfair. Nature is amoral: it does not swing either way. We (the thinking animals) are the ones who judge things in terms of fair and unfair. And our History shows that we progress into into systems that are more and more fair. The Law, for example, exists in order to install some reasonable fairness among Men. Otherwise, any of us who disagree with you could kill you. In fact, the absence of fairness could easily turn you into a victim because no matter how much money you would make, you would always be the prey of someone (a common criminal or a corrupt person who happens to be in the right place to f*ck you). Freedom only exists when there is fairness. The fact that one team wins and another one loses has nothing to do with the unfairness of life because they are BOTH playing according to the same rules. That makes things fair. Not unfair. The fairness exists because there are rules that must be obeyed by both. Not because one is stronger. Unfair would be if the winning team did not have to respect the rules of the game. That would be unfair. If you cheat, you lose no matter how strong you are. Fairness is with the rules (not with the strongest). The guy who gets all the girls ONLY gets the girls who like what he has to offer (be it beauty or money). Some other guy will offer other things other girls like... that the first guy does not possess in order to offer. This has nothing to do with fair or unfair because all people have something to offer. This is a matter of market. At school, if you work hard, you get your reward. That has nothing to do with fair and unfair because you did work hard to get 100% on your test. The result is a simple reflection of a certain effort. It is natural. But there is a big difference between scores and money: everybody can have 100% since the total number of points is limited only by the number of tests being taken. Or everybody could have 0% and nobody would get the points that were not awarded. The glass contains whatever amount you desire. But with money the total amount available does not depend on the amount of people available. If Bill Gates manages to get all the money, all other Americans would have no money left. The glass contains a specific amount and that's it. So your position not only is unrealistic (as unrealistic as someone who says that the World is Paradise) but also not true in reality if we look at the progress Mankind has achieved since we came out of the mud millions of years ago. If we were to adopt your point of view, we would have to kill the babies that are born sick. And the same for old people who no longer work. But on the contrary, we progressively save more children and we progressively protect our weakest. And the system works for you too because some day you will be weak. So your position makes no sense. Taxing is not stealing because the money (unlike points you score in a test) circulate and come back to you sometime in the future. And the fact that it circulates only exists to speed up progress since it allows others to develop things you alone cannot. Taxing would be stealing only IF it was a to support a king that does nothing for you in return. Slavery is stealing because it takes from the slave an energy that does not come back to him. But your taxes do come back to you in many forms. Redistribution of wealth is not stealing because it all comes back to you. Philanthropy is one form of redistributing wealth. Bill Gates, Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods do it. Adopting a child is a form of wealth redistribution. Angelina Jolie and Madonna are doing that. It is narrow minded of you (or it's prejudice) to think you are helping pimps because of some housing project built with tax money. You cannot ignore the much bigger good the housing project is for those who really need it and put it to good use. For every pimp, there are ten kids who become better citizens.

I don't see where you're coming from with this question.

Families who are less well-off because they have to get jobs at minimum wage paying jobs deserve to be able to feed their family and have insurance. That shouldn't be a choice someone has to make.

Minimum wage is not equal to a living wage by any means, no matter how much you deny it. And it's not their fault for being in a position with so little income. More jobs have been shipped overseas than have been created here due to upper class business owners cost-cutting so they can make more money.

People who have more money are taxed more than those with less because they have an income that supports that kind of taxation. Your taxes go to keep your county, state, and government running. So do everyone elses. Getting up on a high horse simply because you have money to wave in people's faces to belittle them is stupid.

I've never taken anything I didn't personally earn (unlike the government). I spend within my means (unlike the government). I pay my bills have no outstanding debt at the end of the month (unlike the government).

Those who call themselves conservatives are as much at fault as liberals. Deficit spending drives up taxes and devalues the dollar. Social programs do also.

Matthew 7:5
First cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

If you want to be taxed less, vote for politicians who support a balanced budget. Cutting taxes (on ANYONE) while raising expenditures make no sense.

It seems that you're using the word 'stealing' quite loosely. The less fortunate need just as much help and protection as everyone else. Your attack solely points out liberals, but it hard to say that conservatives have never helped the case of the poor. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're a conservative, so let me pose a question. How do conservatives justify the neglect of American health by providing an inefficient health care system which is comparative to that of Costa Rica just to make a couple more dollars?

How do you justify taking money from the poor and the working middle-class and giving it to the rich in the form of massive tax breaks?

2007-09-17 14:26:14 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 1 2

who says they feel that way?

Is asking for a more fair minimum wage "stealing from the rich"?

I know a lot more examples of the rich stealing from the poor. But I won't bore you by typing them all out. You'd never read that much at a time anyway- I'm sure your eyes would glaze over.
