take deep breaths
find a mirror and look at "yourself"
when you are putting it in point towards your upper back but not straight up, more like the top of your butt crack lol
use the lightest and smallest size first. i hate tampax pearl
the way it opens is so awkward
i prefer playtex beyond or gentle glide. for a first timer i would reccomend gentle glide because of the small aplicator.
if it hurts when it finally gets a little in, just wiggle it around until you find a comfortable spot and keep going further until you can only see the part you are supposed to push in and your fingers are touching skin. you should use a pantiliner just in case too.

I know how you feel, the first time I used a tampon I had the same feeling. You're nervous from trying something new, and that's completely normal. But using a tampon is so easy..once you get the hang of it, it'll be second nature to you.
Next time you're on your period, try it out again.
1. Try to relax. When you're nervous, your muscles tense up, making insertion more difficult.
2. Use a tampon to match the flow-ie. regular, super. Make sure to use the right absorbancy, otherwise, you can either leak (if not enough), or have a hard time removing the tampon (if the absorbancy is too high for your flow).
i recommend using a slim fit tampon for when you're first starting out, something like Playtex Gentle Glide, or Slim Fits.
3. Hold the mid-section of the tampon firmly(right where the top part ends) with your thumb and index finger. You'll have to be comfortable, so how you go about it is up to you. Some girls like to put one foot up on the tub/sink, or simply sit comfortably.
Now, while holding onto the middle part of the tampon, aim it at a slightly upward angle, toward your lower back. With your other hand, push the bottom part of the tampon (the actual applicator) into the upper part, which will release the tampon.
Also, never keep the tampon in for more than 6 hours. I read an article that advises keeping it in for no more than 3 hours, since it can breed bacteria. Also, never wear a tampon overnight. I tend to use tampons only the first couple days, and switch off with pads.. this reduces the risk of TSS.
Good luck! You will get the hang of it

Don't be scared to use tampons - there isn't anything to be afraid of! Tampons are really easy to use as soon as you get the hang of them. After you're used to using them you'll laugh at how scared you were over nothing (: If you already know how to insert a tampon and it still won't go inside of you then try angling your tampon applicater towards the small of your back. The vagina actually lies FLAT and HORIZONTAL to the ground while you are standing up so it makes insertion easier. Also, you may have more success by putting a little bit of a water-based lubricant or Vaseline on the tip and on the sides of the applicater to help it slide in a little bit easier. Best of luck!

Take your time, relax, and take deep breaths.
Try a few different poses.
Use a slender tampon light absorbency, and a plastic applicator.
Try KY Jelly on the tip of it.
What I do is spread the opening of my vagina open and slowly insert it.
It took me forever to put my first one in ( over 22 years ago!), so just take your time and like I said relax and breathe!

Not everyone likes using tampons. Some women never use them because they hate it. Once you get your period, you should try them again. Maybe the reason it won't go in is because 1-you are nervous and are tightening your muscles and 2-because there is no mucus or liquid to make the process smoother.
Don't give up hope, just try it again when you get your period.

theres usually a set of directions that comes with it. when you do it, tilt the tampon back a little bit, it will make it easier to get in. spread your legs a little and relax as much as possible. i remeber the first time i had to i was shaking sooo much i was so nervous. if you get it in deep enogh you wont feel it. just keep trying, your bound to get it.
