May I suggest you try your local public library. There are books in the library that cover just your question- Science Fair Projects! Look through it and see what project suits your needs and abilities.

Good luck.

Your could take germ samples with a cotton tip from places like public toilet seats, shopping trolleys and train seats and grow them in little containers and research what kind of germs you grow.
I think that would be fun and it would be interesting what you do find in some places and how much of it.
you could mix different house hold chemicals in plastic and see what different effects they have on the plastic. I know i have mixed a few and had the bottle melt or change colour.
You could try and run a light glob from static electricity.
Oh i got one that is also useful and easy. Using an empty keg and a windscreen wiper motor you can make a rotisserie oven with some coals in the bottom and run it off a little battery and cook lunch for the class for extra brownie points.
Anyway i hope that inspired you for some ideas :)

Try this, create an animal that has evolved for some reason. Like a fish who develops a natural antifreeze to stay warm in atlantic waters or something like that. Compare it to other specimins aswell. Exlpain the process of evolution ect. Hope I helped and good luck!

im doing science fair projects too.. im a junior though.. your science teacher as probably preached this to you already, but pick something that interests you. i picked global warming because its a subject im interested in and concerned with. pick broad topics like the environment, the affects of certain beauty projects on people/animals, which is more healthy--this or that.. keep your mind open to everyday questions and it will help :)

I did one on recycling in 8th grade. Depending on how long oyu have to do it, I sorted through the regular household trash can (I know GROSS!) and worked the percentages of what cold have been recyled, composted, and burned and then regular trash. I got a first place. You can tweek it to your details good luck!

Make a liquid seperator thingy (i dont know what its called). U get 2 liquids (one should be water) with different boiling points, and then boil at the lower boiling point to get one of the liquids to evaporate, and collect the evaporated liquid. Try water and oil, i think water has a lower boiling point, and boil it at exactly 212 degrees F (or as close to that u can get).
Or try a volcano, that never fails

Ive done a few in elementary school and one in hs that was like loved by everyone. One was about goldfish. how water temperature affects their breathing...... one was umm does smell affect taste. with that i tested people's tastes buds with their nose plugged adn with it not. like say you give them a cherry.. then a grape then and orange one... then do it again in dif order with a plug on their nose... like jus what is the relationship between smell and taste. the last i did was which type of bread molds fastest. white. wheat.. bagel.. or rye..... and yes i won all three science fairs!
