Well, I would say most of the above is true for your "gentle breast caress" or "playful hair tug".
And if some bastard is trying to RAPE me, I'm supposed to worry about HIS sexual dignity and core regenerative being?
Don't start-that's what my momma always said, and it's good advice for you as well.

Unlike what some think, THIS SHOULD BE BROUGHT UP. The reason: justifiy my friend's innoncent 9 yr old girl who kicked me square in the nuts with no warning a couple months ago just because it would be "funny". I tell you what, I'm not violent in any way, but that intense pain was the only thing that kept me from smacking her right across her face. There is damage that can be done. Grown women and girls are going to kick an attacker in their groin if they are being attacked. However, educating girls to only use that force when necessary should be required. It makes you wonder, how many little boys on the play ground are being kicked in the groin just because the girl is taught to do that and fails to distinguish between her horseplay and being attacked?

In term of self defense, when you need to get out of an assault or rape situation; sorry but kin gloves are off!!! even if it means that your groins and self esteem will suffer.
But I agree that the groin area in self defence class is over rated. I've been in fights, did some ground fighting too and the groin is "well" protected. I find that men are very quick in protecting their groin and you end up missing the target. Also if you're not used to kick (i.e. training in martial art) you'll be too slow to kick a man and he'll have more time to grab your leg and get you on the ground.
For a self defense class I rather teach pressure points. Also gouging the eyes, applying pressure under the nose or a good elbow to the head are blows that hurts and give you enough time to get out of the situation.

If a guy's threatening my life, or trying to rape me, or trying to steal my purse, I'm going to do anything I can to stop him. If kicking him in the balls will do the job, you better believe I'm gonna do that. I might even pull a "monkey steals the peach" on him, if I'm in a particularly nasty mood.
Sorry, but if someone threatens me in any way they forfeit any right to my mercy.
All that being said...I definitely think that women's self defense classes should teach many more things that what they do teach. Right now, they can waste a whole semester just teaching you how to kick a guy in the balls and do a couple of other maneuvers. That should all take about 2 weeks at most. Teach me some real stuff! Teach me how to really fight!

Give me a break, dude! An 'epidemic'? What? I have never been randomly whacked in the nuts, man. A gentle breast caress has NEVER ended up with me getting nailed in the nuts. And if it was an undesired caress or a violation of personal space, go ahead and whack those nuts. Embarrassed? Whatever...get over it. Pain? Yep...it'll pass. Ego? Again...get over it. Destroy an ego and fear of women? WHAT? Yowza...is your ego based on how a women treats you? I would hope it's based on stuff like your talents and pleasant traits. If you know a woman who goes around hitting guys in the groin...do this...don't hang around her...don't be anywhere near her...she's probably crazy. Women, as a general rule, are not as strong as men. If a women is getting attacked by a man, I would hope she goes for his nuts. Men should learn to be respectful to women and they will not get attacked in the groin. No woman (that's right...zero...none) has EVER attacked me there. Why? Respectful and considerate. Plenty of dudes have hit me there, but never a woman.

No. And I really don't buy that this is an "epidemic." It's a valuable self defense tool, so it should remain in self defense training. If it's used for non-defensive purposes, then it's assault, and the victim should contact the police and press charges. Sorry- but if a guy is attacking a woman or trying to abduct her, he deserves whatever he gets.

Okaaaay....but what if she's being attacked? THAT'S the point of self defense classes. To defend yourself when it's absolutely necessary.
So, if a guy's trying to rape a women she needs to think about his ego and how "unfeminine" defending herself can be? You've gotta be kidding be.
Sorry, but if some guy is trying to drag me into a van, anything goes. He'll be lucky if I don't rip 'em off altogether.

okay, first off why hasn't anyone commented on the "gentle breast caress" comment. sorry, but if any guy besides my boyfriend tries to gently caress my breast, he is going to get it somewhere. if it's his balls i reach first, so be it.
and epidemic? the only time i ever kicked a boy in the balls was when i was 11 and a boy twice my size was trying to pin me down. i did what i had to. and yes, i kicked him there and he deserved it. i don't know a single woman or girl that randomly goes around kicking men in the crotch. i don't know what you're doing to warant this type of attention.... maybe you're just unpleasant?
any method that permits a person to allude a larger, stronger attacker, male or female, should be allowed.

If it means stopping a woman from being raped or killed, then absolutely not. Women need to be able to fight off their attackers by any means possible. They can't afford to be nice or considerate of their attackers. Their main goal is to temporarily disable the man so they can escape.

Well I dont think its a fair thing to do however if a man is RAPING a woman then hell yes she should attack his groin. But otherwise that should be a last result. But I mean think about it, most men are bigger/stonger than woman so if a man is attacking her, then that method will be almost the only thing for her toget away.

While I never liked it when I was kicked in the nads, I think that self defense courses, are just that, courses for the defense of self. It is like Gun ownership, sadly some misuse it.
