Why stop at helmet laws?

Riding a motorcycle is too dangerous. Each state should pass laws outlawing motorcycle riding. Why should car drivers have to pay higher insurance because some idiots get on a motorcycle?

Lets just outlaw every dangerous thing that other people don't need to be doing. I forget exactly why, but people shouldn't do dangerous things and then we can all live forever. Right?

Remember the bigger picture is more government control of our daily lives and criminalizing a personal decision. Personally I think we as a people have already crossed into a grey area between true freedom and slavery. Every little thing like this is one step farther away from being free people. Our country's founders threw a **** fit over smaller stuff than this. We fought a revolution over a flipping import tax. We live in a prison state compared to the colonists and it is all because of constant baby steps, taken willingly, always away from freedom.

Laws are written for the Lowest Common Denominators of society, i.e. the REALLY STUPID ones. A helmet law would only apply to the ones that have no common sense, while at the same time taking away the freedom of choice that the rest of us have.

While I think that EVERYONE should wear a helmet, I am AGAINST the government stepping in and forcing legislation agains an individual's choices.

everyone in any motor vehicle including busses, trains, boats & planes should be forced to wear helmets & 4 point restraints just like race car drivers. because IT WOULD PREVENT INJURY& DEATH TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EVERY YEAR. also for the same reason all motorcycles should be outlawed as Joan Claybrook of the Carter admin. (the mother of 85 mph speedometers) attempted to do. then we could all die from other cause's

Florida repealed helmet law but re-introduced it for riders under 21.(The woman who was major influence died of head injuries from motorcycle accident about a month after repeal) I think they should make it compulsory for all new and first year riders irrespective of age (then they may learn enough to get to second year.

In Oregon they passed this kind of law several years ago and showed very negative photos of riders to make their point. It had nothing to do with safety it went for the votes. Lesson of the day!

I only have the classic line:

Let those who ride decide.

There's more, but no soapbox tonight.
