when he is giving a ticket?

I understand that he is doing his job, but have you seen how these cops think that they are above everyone. They are lucky we live in the US or they would have serious problems. I just think that they should be more respectful of the people they are trying to serve, they dont risk their lives.

Honking at a cop (or belittling him) when he is giving someone a ticket can be considered interference with law enforcement or possibly disorderly conduct.

Strictly speaking, a cop isn't supposed to arrest you just for making a wiseass remark to him while he's busy with an offender, unless you get in his face and physically obstruct him. Like it or not, we do have a 1st Amendment. However, a car horn is only supposed to be used as a warning device in an emergency or to avoid an accident. Although it's not enforced that often, in many places a cop can stop and ticket you if you blow your horn for any other reason and you can bet he will if you piss him off.

DON'T EVEN tell us that you mouthed off to a cop and honked at him while he was giving you a ticket.

This guy goes out to work everyday and risks his life every single time he walks up to a car window. How does he know if the occupants of that car have not just robbed a bank or have a hostage and are ready to shoot to kill in order to keep from going to prison?

He is sworn to uphold ALL the laws in his jurisdiction, not just the 'big' ones. He is just doing his job when he gives out traffic tickets....so lighten up, okay? Do you want some jerk to flap his mouth off to you and honk while you are trying to do yours? Think about someone OTHER than yourself once in awhile.

Yes, he can bring you in just to be a jerk about the statement. Although that would never hold up, he could just want to waist your time. He could arrest you for honking at him tho. Did you do that? Your one crazy dude.

It kind of depends, there are disturbing the peace laws and interfering in a police officers job.

Really - you want to harass the cops??? Not a good idea? Call your mom and ask her opinion. She won't steer you wrong!
