a car travels 8 hours at 60 miles per hour. Which equation represents the distance traveled ??

S = speed
D = ST
D = 60 x 8 miles
D = 480 miles

If a car travels travelled 60 miles in 8 hours then the distance travelled would be 60 x 8 which is 480 miles per hour.

Multiply 8 and 60 because 8 is the hours traveled and 60 is how many miles in those hours(times 8)

The hours cancel themselves out in the left side of the equation leaving...

8 X 60 miles = ?
8 X 60 miles = 480 miles

This is probably more detailed than the teacher wants, but that's the best way to impress.

here's your equation:
speed = distance traveled / time

to solve for the distance, just multiple both sides by "time"

speed*time = distance traveled
