Have you thought of knitting angle scarf? It is knitted in garter stitch but looks like it has been knitted diagonally.
All you have to do is cast on the desired amount of stitches and knit the first row.
For the second row you increase in the first stitch, knit till you have 2 stitches left and knit them together.
These 2 rows make the whole pattern, it looks very cool and funky.

I don't know how well you knit, but have you thought of using a cable stitch?
You could also try to incorparte the fun fur yarn with a cordinating solid color using two strands as one with a knit two purl two pattern. Or if the scarf is going to be an accent piece to an outfit you could just use fun fur a nice sized scarf only takes two balls.

This is my favorite scarf pattern. It makes a very thick scarf, so go up a few needle sizes from the recommended size. The pattern is easy to follow, and the stitch is really cool. Happy knitting!

Interweave Press has a bi-weekly free knitting newsletter "knitting daily". The editor, Sandi Wiseheart, just posted a most beautiful scarf with cables. She designed it for the "Red Scaf Project" and looks fairly easy to do.
If that isn't what you are looking for, try Lionbrand.com. They have a great library of free knitting and crochet patterns for all different skill levels.

My favorite is a skinny scarf about 1 1/2" wide and 5 to 6 feet long. I use the biggest needles i have (us 17) and find the funky color yarn.
CO 8
*K1, YO,* K1 (* xx * repeat to end)
*K1, drop YO, * K1
repeat these two rows until the end.
you then can do more yarn overs together and then drop them for even longer stitches between for even a faster scarf.
