Hello,

I must say I am pretty disappointed that we did not reach Mars by now. I have books on space from the mid to late 60's, moon landing included and according to them, we should have been landed on Mars with the first people by 1985 and have our first small colonies there and the moon as well by now. I am sorry to see how slow things progressed with the cut backs to the space program over the last 40 years.

Hopefully we'll get there eventually and get some coring done to see if indeed Mars had primitive life in its oceans eons ago. That would certainly give us a much needed spurt in the exploration of our solar system and beyond as well as answer some questions that we are possibly not alone.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

Yes I do.

While I can do nothing but applaud all efforts to design and test models for future space travel, the actual deployment of a mission to Mars with multiple astronauts seems foolish to me at this time. We are totally unable to solve the pressing porblems that a global society has here on Earth, and few people seem inclined to take the serious effort to do so.
Genocide and starvation are normal daily occurrances in Darfur and the Sudan region in total. Syria and Iran keep the Israel - Palestine conflict at a modest boil all the time which ruins any possible chance for a decent life in the Palestinians future. Radicals are breeding like flies in Pakistan and spreading out to other nearby countries. Only a fool would group together a bunch of folks who can turn a blind eye to these situations ande send them on a two year mission. Quite probably they would turn a blind eye to the basic faults which develop within their small capsule also.

Fix your troubles at home before venturing out into other areas. ..A pretty good axiom.
