I'm trying to put in a new video card and seem to have run into a problem. My father told me to unistall the video card I have now through properties, and a friend told me to disable it through the BIOS. I have no idea who is right. Which is better to do???

What exactly is the problem you're having? Reply and I'll post back. But usually, you just put in the new video card, uninstall the drivers for your old (the one on your motherboard) video card through the device manager, then use the CD that came with your new video card to install the drivers for it

Actually, you may not have to uninstall the drivers for the motherboard card. If you plug in the new card and go to your bios setup, you should be able to tell the computer which video card to use as default

But if you have the installation instructions that should have came with the video card, use them

Your video card is on the motherboard, you can't remove it so go into the BIOS and disable it then install the new card then install driver for it from the CD that came with it. Good luck.

If your current video card is a chip on your motherboard, see if you can find a place to disable it in the BIOS.

you should first uninstall old video card applications
download driver cleaner pro and remove all the old drivers
goto bios set to look from your expansion slot (agp/pcie)
insert card, install applications/drivers
this should ensure you dont have driver issues, application issues...
if at all possible in bios tell it to look to your pcie/agp slot first then your igp (onboard)
