Just corner your mom and tell her you need to speak to her privately when she has the time, hopefully soon. Chances are she may have a pretty good idea what you are wanting to talk about and she will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you have any panty liners at home (if not, get mom to get some for you), begin to wear one and carry another one or two in your purse or backpack in case you start at school. Once you do start your period, though, you will need a more absorbant pad. Keep the panty liners for the discharge you will have at times throughout the month.

Most times you rarely know your period is going on. As time goes by, it won't even cross your mind because it will just be there and just an everyday part of your life.

Just talk to your Mum. She's a woman too, and has been through it all, so don't be embarrassed, just tell her. If there are others in the house just ask her if you two can talk in your bedroom or something.
If you think your period is going to start, you can wear a pad inside your underpants, even if it hasn't started yet. Or your can carry a change of underwear and some pads in a little purse in your school bag. I wouldn't suggest tampons for the first few cycles, and NEVER wear one without having your period (that can be uncomfortable and painful to remove a dry tampon)
And no, its not like going to the bathroom, for some there's nothing to let them know its started except the damp feeling in your underwear. Some women have tummy pains before hand but others don't.

Just sit her down and say, look mom, here's what I'm concerned about. And then tell her just what you typed here. She's a woman, she's had her period for years, and she knows you're going to get your period someday soon as well. She's probably wondering WHEN you're going to get around to asking her about this sort of stuff. LOL.

If you start your period at school- I would be carrying a small purse in my book bag with a couple of pads in it, just in case. You can get pads that are individually wrapped and you can't tell that those are pads, so that might be a good choice for you.

It doesn't feel like you are going to the bathroom...though you might feel something "wet" down there when you do get your period. You might have some cramping and some back pain the days before your period....but that's not for sure.

dont worry about tellnig her. she should no about it and she can help you. i told my mom about a month ago and im 12 also. but it is no big deal i mena that will bring you two closer together. and if you are worried about starting at school then pack some pads in your purse or wear a panty liner every day till then. its what i do. well just try not to wear whit if you are worried also. and it doesnt hurt for the bleeding part but you will probably get carmps and bloated and maybe a headache. have you had the talk at school yet. in most schools it happens in 5th grade. and it can be imbarissing. ask some friends and maybe a nurse or counsoler for help if you are nervous. but like i said jsut tell your mom and youll feel alot better when you do cuz you will be reassured about precautions. but do ask someone about it.oh and make sure you do excersise. dont believe the person before the person before me. excersise makes a huge difference. it really helps. and shower daily, you need to do this or else you will start to smell and it isnt like youll make the bath tub all bloody. as long as you take a shower and not a bath. nd do stay calm about it. you will notice a little bit of brown in the pads or pant liners before you start to bleed bleed. that is normal. and you should really keep a chart on what times you have them. and dont freak if you dont have one every 28 days. it isnt like you are pregnant, it is just that you are still iregular. and i have not had mine for a month and a half, so it is no big deal. of course it does suck that you cant wear what yo want on your period. but be calm and talk to your mom. best of luck.

The best way to say it is just straight up = "Mom, I think I'm getting ready to start..." and then tell her why you think that.

No it does not feel like going to the bathroom. You may have some dull cramping in your low belly. Mostly you won't feel anything, except having to change your pad or tampon every so often.

Keep a bag in your locker just in case, with your feminine products, a change of pants and a fresh pair of panties and a small thing of baby wipes. That way if you leak before you realize it's happening, you can send a trusted friend to your locker to get your gear. You probably won't start with a fast flow.

im twelve.you want to pad you under garments[ under wear].with pads. if you are insecure[like i am] you could rap toilet paper up and put scoth tape and the bottom amd place it in your under garments. tell her that you dont really want to hear the detail, but i think i have my period. tell her b luntly that you dont really want to be stressed.rush to the bath room.always have money on you.some school bathroom have toiletrees that you buy. never use tampons you can get blood blokage and die. never take a bath when you have it either.try no to do athletic stuff on the days you have it[ your cramps will stop you] some times it last for 3 days and some times a week. they are usuelly monthly, but if they dont come once a month dont be scared. it is alright for it to be irregular in the frist year or so. you cant really tell if you are having it.always check every day.sometimes you can tell by how tired you are. take care.

Just tell her. It is nothing to be embarrased about. She'll understand. You can keep some pads with you at school just in case you start while you are there. It doesn't feel like you are going to the bathroom. In fact, it does not feel like much at all. Now, go have fun and get off the computer. You're too young to spend a bunch of time on the internet.

Your mom should have been through this with you a long time ago. Ask her to take the time to talk to you about it ... what do you mean "How can I tell her?" She is your Mom!! Maybe she thinks you have already learned everything at school and she doesn't want to intrude. Get her to show you how to put the pad in your underwear and anything else you are wondering about. Maybe you could use this time to start building better communication between yourselves. It is never too late to start.

Just tell your mom straight out you're about to get your period. She'll understand. Never be afraid to tell your mom!

Bring a few period things (pads) with you to school. If you're worried it will come without warning, also wear a pad to school. Ask your mom to show you how to wear them.

Normally, you don't feel your period when it comes out unless it is very heavy. Usually you feel your underwear is wet.

oh i had the same thing yesterday and i started today!

its a little scary and u do feel a little wet. I havent told my mom yet but im just gonna go strait to her and say "I had my period" then be like "please dont make a big deal i feel sick dont talk to me, and if u tell anyone ill be very mad"

if u havenyt got pads yet and u dont wanna tell ur mom now,m use toilet paper as a substitute. if u start it at school. have a friend thats had there period help you. If theyre mature they wont laugh at you. Most likely thees a pad despenser in ur school restroom so use that for like 10 cents. Or go to the nurse and tell her.

kk

im 12 too
