My mom and dad divorced, then my mom remarried about 8 or 9 years ago. I was using my dad's last name, but i want to change it to my mom and stepdad's name now. How do I go about doing that in Pennsylvania?

Oh yeah, my mom and stepdad said it's fine. me and my mom are working on it, i have to go to court and everything, get papers signed, and my dad can appeal against the change. I was looking for more specific information. Thanks!

Mom would have to petition the court for a name change. Dad can object so don't think it will be easy. Your 'dad's last name' is your birthname. Are you sure you don't want to keep it?

I guess it depends on a couple things. Is it ok with your mom & stepdad if you do it? If you're underage and they say no, then I guess you're stuck with your dad's name till you're older. Also - if your dad has any rights where you're concerned, he may legally have to approve the change. If all parties say yes, then your mom will have to go to court and fill out papers to have it changed.
