What makes a person truly intelligent is not just possessing a lot of knowledge but rather how one amasses and utilizes such knowledge in a relatively quick and efficient manner. Reasoning and understanding are also key.

What makes a person intelligent is the person's ability to understand.

Does a person have to show you the ability to understand to be intelligent? When a person shows you the ability to understand who determines the person is intelligent?

Do you have to understand light to understand that light exist? If light has forever been absent does one understand dark exist? What does a lack of demonstrating the ability to show understanding mean about a person being intelligent?

Does not having knowledge about something and asking a question mean you will not be able to understand it or want to know more about it?

What is the least amount of knowledge a person needs about a thing before you can understand that thing? Does the absence of knowledge forever mean a lack of the ability to understand and the inability to make a person intelligent.

knowledge does not make a person intelligent. i have met many people that have memorized facts which can be recalled at an instant. yet when i ask for explanation, they don't really know anything about what they are saying. The converse is also true. I have met many people that dropped out of school but can understand complex situations after a short introduction to them.

i think intelligence is based on both creativity and objective reasoning on various subjects.

An intelligent person is one who is able to have book smarts as well as common sense. Because i know many people who are book smart but they cant find their way out of a wet paper bag with scissors in their hands. Then there are those who can converse with people on many different topics just because they understand how people work and are motivated and manipulated. But true intelligence is the ability to have both and be able to utilize them together.

You are born that way. Just having a high intelligence does not mean you will be smart or get ahead in the world. High intelligence means that you are more capable of being smart. Some average intelligence people are very smart.

I don't consider anyone to be intelligent. Anything that resembles arrogance and superiority leads to a very lonely life. Very few people ever live up to that person's expectations.

Whenever anyone lauds their superiority over another, they merely demonstrate an arrogance that can be easily disputed.

Intelligence is a term that has been coined to separate an individual from others. After all, if you aren't my intellectual equal, I wouldn't need to talk to you or interact with you.

Inner Light makes a person intelligent.

When Socrates said "know thyself," he was speaking of the inner light of Spirit... or in religious terms... The Great "I AM." It is the universal aspect of our own existence. That is the light that makes us bright.

This on line resource explains it quite well.
