Lets see, theres the proto universe, bouncing universe, bubble universe, big bang, it's always been here, holographic theory, some supreme being or beings made it. Now that I think of it, the list could probably go on and on.

In my opinion, the theory that the universe is inflating is only partially true.
My theory is that the universe is actually deflating, collapsing in on itself infinite. Initially inflation could have occured through a big bang, but then it could have also collpased in on itself immediately afterwards. If the universe is deflating, then it would definitely give the illusion that it is inflatining.
The idea of the universe funneling in on itself would compliment space being curved and also create time. Eistein said time is like a flowing river or something to that effect, which this theory compliments. If this is true, then time travel actually isn't difficult. One wouldn't need to disrupt space, something that would require energy equal to or greater than the infinite universe itself. One would just need to disrupt himself. Imagine disrupting yourself, by being the rock standing still as the stream runs by, compared to a leaf helplessly floating down the stream, the stream we call time.
Anyways, I am agnostic. Spiritually, I believe if there is a god or isn't a god, then its everything and nothing. Everything is made of energy, so conceivablly this would be god, energy. This is why the face of god is unfathomable. This means there is and isn't a God/Gods/Goddess/Goddesses. Something and nothing.
If some energy materializes itself, then would seem to be something. It some energy doesn't materialize itself, then it would seem to be nothing. Energy is both, which this train of thought eventually delves into planes and alternate universes.
P.S. I would like to add, this means the universe isn't everything because the inflation theory thinks in terms of only our universe existing. If we can only speculate solely on our universe and not branch out to there being more than just our universe, then we have yet to even scratch the surface of how everything was created, thats if it ever even began.

There are some people who believe that there was a universe that existed before this one was formed and that the universe expands for billions of years and begins to collapse in on itself until it goes through the big bang again.

I would like, beforehand, to propose the possibility that the universe has always existed in some form and was never "created" at all. I'm an agnostic, though. I'm not certain about any of this.

There aren't any. Nothing I would call "scientific" or "empirical" anyway.
