I'm 31 weeks pregnant, but my baby has some stuff wrong with him, resulting in his head being the size of a 40 week baby. Anywho, so now the babys big, my bellys big, and everythings pushing on my sciatica. I'm not sure how I'm gunna survive 9 more weeks. Any advice other than the heating pad?
(btw, im an incredibly tiny person, 5'2, im only 18)

elevate the sore leg, take a warm bath, massage can help sometimes. Sciatic sucks, I'm sorry you have to deal with it. God bless you and your baby.

Hi, i had that pain in the tailbone.. Well nothing really helped me, except for yes walking, but some times it even hurt then. I sit all day at work, so I had to change my position every few mins. Also it went away I think in the last few wks of preggos (maybe because I was at home and laying down more than sitting).Good luck! Also I heard that when you have that pain, baby is pretty low which is actually really good, meaning that you'll have an easy labor. My labor was pretty easy.

- If you've got an office job, get a chair with a good lumbar support.

- Try to stretch and strengthen your back muscles.

- Talk with your doc about what pain meds would be okay to take.

- Avoid twisting movements for the time being (ie, no mopping).

- Remember sciatica in pregnancy is literally a false pain. Most pain is an indication that some part of your body is getting damaged, and that is supposed to cause some emotional anxiety to get you to change what you're doing...but in this case, there is no physical damage, your baby just happens to be rubbing on the sciatic nerve causing it to send all sorts of fake pain signals. I found that just remembering it was a "false signal" helped calm down the fear and emotional side of the pain at least.

I actually went to a physical therapist for this when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. Get on your hands and knees on the floor. First walk your hands out in front of you, lowering your chest and spreading your knees apart to accommodate the baby. Go down until you can rest the side of your face or forehead on the floor. Stick your butt up in the air. This brings the lower part of your pelvic region higher than your uterus where the weight of the baby is. Hold the stretch for as long as you are comfortable with it. Slowly walk your hands back up and arch your back like a cat for a little bit. Do the 1st stretch again and then the 2nd one. I did this 3 - 4 times a day depending on how bad the pain was and it worked wonderfully for me. My boss had to let me do it during the day also or else I couldn't walk and I had a job where I was on my feet for 8 hours. Hope this helps and good luck!

i feel for u im 35wks 5' 2" and i've been having the same problem for 2 months now. some days i cant walk at all. theres not much u can do besides the usual pain relievers like put ur feet up, bed rest, warm bath in epsom salt, lay/sleep on ur left side and the old remedy heating pad of course. i've done it all. the most effective for me is tylenol my dr. said its ok as long as its non-aspirin and i get on my hands and knees for a few minutes until the baby drops a bit. to sleep i tuck a pillow under my back, one under my belly and one btween my legs. most of the time i sleep on the opposite side of where the pain is at b/c that means the baby is applying pressure there. if u cant sleep cause of the pain ask ur dr. if u can take benedryl
my dr. said its a safe way to aid in sleepless nights. u need all the energy and sleep u can get b4 ur big day. i hope u find some or at least one of these suggestions helpful. good luck with ur luv lump. get lots of rest!
