George Washington didn't ever fight, he only led troops to abolish British rule for the US to become an independent country. US presidents never have put themselves on the front line of any wars in the United States. When the King of the United Kingdom and British rule was removed from the USA. The USA became a independent country since they had no King or Queen. They needed to elect a president to run the country Washington was chosen due to his passion to make the US an Independent nation and country . This is why you Americans celebrate July 4th Independence Day the end of British rule. Washington was elected by the people just like Bush and other US presidents.

I find it hard to believe that anyone would not know about George Washington and the American Revolution. He was the general who led the troops representing the 13 colonies (States) against Great Britain to gain independence. After that successful war he became the first president under the newly ratified Constitution of the United States.
