Yes and No

I was raised to watch scary movies and laugh. The movies "Scary Movies" tells you why. Horror films after Alfred Hitchcock are all fomulaic. You can predict how something will happen next. It was a good movie but , edge of my seat ain't happening. Hostel, The Exorcist, Jaws, they all had their fright value but even they were only a one hit wonder. The scare goes away quickly. Meanwhile, I watched that movie to see how LaBeuf was developing as an actor. He has been in several successful films now and is scheduled to be in the next Indiana Jones movie so it was interesting to see how he would do as the lead in a thriller. I would have liked it better as a true R rated film with a more pounding soundtrack, the gratuitous sex scene leading to a murderous chase scene, the terrifying symphony of messages leading to a silence of terror. Sure these are all in that movie but a bit understated. I want it to drive me wild with adrenaline. It just fell short in that area.

Yes, I loved it. The end was the best. I thought the movie was just going to end before the last half hour and I was like, "Well that was a waste of money," but then it got good ;).

I liked it too. I dont want to give anything away, but the very last scene or two left me disappointed--a bit corny. But 99% of it was surprissingly good--very Hitchcockian--almost TOO much so, like a rip-off, but still, really fun and interesting. I think Shia LeBouef (sp?) is going places...
