I'm only counting what I have seen in person, not what is in the news or thrown in our faces all of the time.

On my way to work one morning, I saw a driver intentionally running over a cat that was only a foot away from safety.

For some reason, that struck me as such a cruel, heartless act. I suppose it brought home to me how uncaring and purposefully cruel so many people are today. It was heartbreaking to see that beautiful animal crushed, an image that horrifies me still because it says more about human nature than many of the more recognizable acts of destruction.

Again, in my lifetime, the news has always covered horrors. I'm thankful that my own life hasn't brought me into contact with what others have had to encounter.

Video of Chechen rebels decapitating a Russian soldier. The soldier was tied up and held down, and was whimpering--it was the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. He had seconds to live, and knew it.

The Muslim Chechens ran the back of the blade over his throat a few times, and then without warning, just shoved the 12-inch blade straight into the left side of his neck and out the right. The sound that the soldier made, screaming through his severed larynx, was bone chilling.

At first, there was little blood. The blade had missed both carotid arteries and jugular veins--probably on purpose. After letting him scream and writhe in agony for a few seconds, the Muslim Chechen began to saw the blade back and forth through the wound, slowly working towards the back of the neck. Blood gushed then, once the vessels were severed. The Russian's raspy screams took on a gurgling note as he began to drown in his own blood. A horrible noise that, mercifully, did not continue much longer.

Once he was dead, the Muslim Chechen cut the front of the throat, and bent the head way back. He hacked at the bones of the neck until the head came free. The head was set on the back of the soldier's dead body, the knife was wiped on his uniform, and the video ended.

In 1978 I saw a little(3 maybe) year old girl open a rear door of a car passing a semi and fall out. The driver of the semi locked the brakes and skidded on her body. This all took place directly infront of me while I was braking to avoid hitting the semi and running over the remains of the little girl.

My kids were all strapped into car seats and then booster seats and this tale was told to them about openning doors while driving.

It took me a long time to not get the shakes when thinking about it.

I used to work at a photo lab and the worst thing I've seen was some of the coroner pictures that would come in....Also the pics taken of the Jack the Ripper victims.

Child thrown from a car. This family was in an old, beaten-up car and made a sharp turn right in front of me and this little girl (who apparently wasn't in a seat belt) just flew out of the open, rear side-door into the middle of the highway. Luckily, I think that she alright but she took quite a tumble.

This was accidental, but on google, you know how you type something and it brings up other pics not related to the subject, well for a project, i looked up something in geography, the name of a country and a picture of a head splattered on the pavement with the spine attached and blood everywhere was brought up, the body was unseen. it was so gross. I immediately exited, it was so gruesome and a tiny bit traumatizing.

I work on a pig farm and after a pig has been dead for a week, because my boss didn't want to deal with it himself, but it died giving birth and it bloated up and the organs popped and then started coming out of the belly which popped, didn't smell to nice either, is that what your talking about becuase i have more stories

The dead body of a young girl crumpled up in what was left of the cab of a semi. Her side of the semi sheared off when it hit the back of another truck. There it was lying in the middle of the road (the young girl was a local that was hitchhiking)

Let's see...I've run about 50,000 Paramedic calls in a busy City. I've been to court on a dozen homicides. So, naturally my answer is .....a liquor store on every other corner in the worst parts of that City.
